Air Spade

The Air-Spade

The Air-Spade is tool that blows air at an extremely high speed and force to expose roots and the crown of the tree.  It allows us to inspection the tree for girdling roots without injury the the tree or tree roots.  We use the Air-Spade to expose flare roots to provide maximum coverage during tree injections.  It is also used to alleviate compacted soils by adding air space to the compacted soil (you can see the soil “fluff” up) in some soil profiles.  Here are few more examples of how we use the Air-Spade:

  • Dig Ditches for irrigation or electrical lines without injury to roots
  • Vertical Mulching
  • Exposing the crown of trees buried too deep
  • Radial Trenching
  • Aeration
  • Cleaning litter tree grates
  • Exposing utility lines in trenches
  • And many more…
